Subscribe with a card (checkout, portal, invoices)

You might be here because: “how do I pay” · “Choose a plan” · “Pick a plan” · “Card checkout isn’t available right now” · “You already have an active subscription. Use the billing portal to change plans” · “Couldn’t start checkout” · “Couldn’t open the billing portal” · “update my card” · “does it renew automatically” · “do you store my card details”

Short answer

To subscribe, open dashboard → Billing → Choose a plan, pick Monthly or Yearly, and press Choose Starter, Pro or Team. You are taken to the card checkout hosted by the payment provider, and the plan is active as soon as the payment is confirmed. Afterwards the card, invoices and cancellation live in the billing portal: Billing → Manage in … portal.

Check first

  • Signed in to the dashboard as the account owner? The plan buttons stay disabled until live billing has loaded.
  • Monthly or yearly? A yearly plan costs ten months’ price — two months free — and renews each year until you cancel.
  • Already paying by card? Then Billing shows Change plan, and the plan buttons read Upgrade to … or Downgrade to …; pressing one opens a confirmation of that one change instead of a new checkout. A plan paid with crypto shows Renew with crypto instead (see Pay with crypto), and a plan billed directly by Driftstack, not through Stripe, shows Contact support.

Likely causes and fixes

  1. “Card checkout isn’t available right now. Email billing@driftstack.dev.” Card billing is not set up on this server; the API answers “Billing is not configured on this server”. Fix: email billing@driftstack.dev.

  2. “You already have an active subscription. Use the billing portal to change plans.” A second checkout is refused on purpose. Fix: open Billing → Change plan, then press Upgrade to … or Downgrade to …; the payment provider shows the difference and when it takes effect.

  3. “Couldn’t start checkout (…)” / “Couldn’t open the billing portal (…)”. A passing error; the button is restored so you can try again. If it repeats, note the text in the brackets.

  4. “Is my card stored?” Card details are held by the payment provider, never by Driftstack. Receipts come from the provider.

  5. After paying. Renewal is automatic; the new cycle starts when the renewal payment confirms. Payment-method updates, invoices, cancellation and tax-ID details are all in the portal. Prices are in USD; VAT is added where EU rules require.

  6. Before you buy. Cancel or downgrade at any time and the plan stays active to the end of the paid period; there are no automatic refunds for unused time. If you have not started a session outside the free trial, you can ask support@driftstack.io for a full refund of your first card payment and of every other card payment for your plan in the 14 days after it, if you ask within those 14 days (see our Refund Policy). Crypto payments are non-refundable except in the cases in our Refund Policy. If you buy for private use, you can also withdraw from any order within 14 days, card or crypto (see the Refund Policy).

If it still fails

Press Talk to a person in this chat (or open Help) and include your account email, the plan you chose, the date and amount charged, and what Billing shows now. “I paid but the plan is not active”, a double charge and refunds are handled by a person; the assistant cannot see payment details.
